Overview:
Day 1 6.45 am Depart Broome and travel through Kimberley cattle country, cross the Fitzroy River where you may even see a freshwater crocodile or two, before stopping for a coffee break at Willare. Entering Nyikina land you travel through historic lower Liveringa station viewing wildlife, nature and stopping off to learn about local flora and fauna. Visit historically significant Lyungoodunj cave to hear dreamtime stories of Woonyoonboo followed by lunch with local Nyinkina men. Join a 1.5hr camel trek at Mt Anderson and learn about bush tucker, tracking skills and bush medicine. In the afternoon visit a local billabong for a fishing expedition to catch Cherabyn (local freshwater prawns) or Barramundi. Set-up camp at Mt Anderson and enjoy a scrumptious BBQ dinner before you settle-in for the night in domes and swags under the spectacular starlit night sky. Day 2 After breakfast join your guide for a short walk to historic Mount Anderson shearing shed and a tour of Mount Anderson Station. Hike with local indigenous guides to an ancient living site on top of Grant Ranges - spectacular views, rock art, rock carvings and nature. (other less physical options available) Lunch, then travel to Jarlmadangah community Cultural Centre to learn about history, culture, skin groups, tools, weapons and art followed by a bus tour of Jarlmadangah community. Visit a rock art gallery where you stop for billy tea, damper and dreamtime stories. Depart late afternoon for Broome arriving approx 6.30 pm.
