You spend your time in the Victoria River region with a highly experienced guide - a legendary Aboriginal Elder of the Wardaman people who tells the Songlines of his people and takes you to the rock art sites of his ancestors.

During your journey you visit Ingalari Waterhole and the dramatic and powerful Lightning Brothers rock art site, the main site for the creation heroes Jabaringi and Yagjagbula, who are the creators of lightning and of the nurturing monsoonal rains. This site also features a wide array of paintings and intricate engravings depicting the history of the Wardaman people from the period of the Rainbow Serpent’s creation up to the not-so-distant past when ships and mounted police troopers were sent to hunt down the Aboriginal people. Your Wardaman guide will interpret the many aspects of this important creation site and its surrounding area.

To visit the Land of the Lightning Brothers represents possibly the last opportunity in Australia to listen to Aboriginal elders who possess traditional knowledge about their rock art.

This is a voyage into the past to learn something of the future. Your Aboriginal guide will sing stories of the past around the campfire at night and during the day explain the mysteries of his people and their ancient art.

During the day you travel by 4WD then on foot to various locations in the vast Victoria River region and at night camp beside clear streams underneath a canopy of stars.

Additional Comments:

Bush Camping
Swags (fully enclosed canvas bedroll with mattress, pillow, sleeping bag and pair of sheets) and optional dome tent should you not want to look at the stars. Comfortable chairs and tables provided. Facilities are 5 million star rated; you bathe in streams and commune with nature for ablutions (toilet roll and shovel supplied).
