Overview:
This fascinating tour provides guests with an introduction to Melbourne city’s indigenous history. At the Royal Botanic Gardens learn about the ancestral lands of the Koolin (or KULIN) nation (traditional owners of Melbourne) and discover traditional uses of plants for food, tools and medicine. Moving to popular Charcoal Lane Restaurant (non-profit restaurant serving native Australian-inspired food) guests have the opportunity to taste some of the native foods and enjoy a light lunch.
Following lunch visit the Bunjilaka Aboriginal Cultural Centre at the Melbourne Museum, which holds Aboriginal cultural heritage items from a collection that is one of the most significant in the world. The tour ends at Federation Square, a modern piazza which has become the heart and soul of cultural Melbourne. The square also holds historical significance to the Kulin nation.
